In Sashiko 365, Japanese embroidery expert Susan Briscoe brings together an impressive collection of 365 traditional and contemporary Sashiko patterns. A wonderful year-long project for anyone who loves this beautiful Japanese embroidery technique.
Each pattern is stitched onto a 4.5-inch (approx. 11.5 cm) square of fabric. The book includes a photograph of the finished sample and a clear diagram showing the stitch direction and order. Written instructions accompany the patterns, making it easy to work your way through the collection. You can even record the date of each completed sample in the book.
Once you have stitched all 365 squares, you can follow the instructions to join them together and create an impressive, double bed-sized Sashiko sampler quilt. Of course, the individual patterns can also be repeated or combined to create larger designs for wall hangings, throws, table mats and smaller quilts.
