Steam-A-Seam Lite – Double-sided fusible web for appliqué
Steam-A-Seam is a double-sided fusible web that bonds two layers of fabric together using steam. It works like a fabric adhesive, allowing you to temporarily position your appliqué before permanently fusing it in place.
Often compared to Vliesofix, Steam-A-Seam is the American alternative and is known for its superior quality. Before final steaming, the fabric can easily be lifted and repositioned for corrections. Once fused with steam, the web becomes water-resistant and washable, making it suitable for durable textile projects.
This product is the Lite version, which is approximately 50% lighter than the regular Steam-A-Seam (which we do not stock). Because of its lightweight structure, it remains easy to sew through by hand and is also perfectly suitable for machine stitching.
How to use:
-
Draw your design on the grid side of the paper backing
-
Roughly cut out the shape, leaving some excess around the lines
-
Iron the fusible web onto the wrong side of the fabric
-
Cut precisely along the drawn lines and remove the paper backing
-
Position the shape using the light adhesive layer
-
Permanently fuse with steam
-
Finish the appliqué with a blanket stitch or machine stitching if desired
Tip: Designs can be drawn by hand, or printed directly from your computer onto the grid side of the paper backing.
